From their go-to Lower East Side hangouts to Andy Warhol’s Silver Factory, explore the band’s favorite NYC haunts through Matali Crasset’s original scenography.

The Velvet Underground Experience will contain six films, 350+ photos, 1,000+ objects, and a VR greenhouse featuring projections that recreate the atmosphere of the banana album artwork produced by Andy Warhol.
For three months, culture enthusiasts can participate in a series of unique and extraordinary experiences including concerts, special events, lectures, pop-up installations, fashion collaborations, art exhibitions, screenings, performances, and masterclasses.

Original Movies
The multimedia experience will contain six films produced exclusively for the exhibition by Edward English, Alexander Keewatin Dewdney, Gerard Malanga, Marie Menken, Barbara Rubin, Andy Warhol, and Danny Williams.

Portraits
Portraits of the band members—Lou Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison, Maureen Tucker, Nico—will be featured alongside those of fellow ’60s New York icons like Candy Darling, Allen Ginsberg, Piero Heliczer, Edie Sedgwick, Andy Warhol, Danny Williams, and more!

Hundreds of Images
In addition to rare archives contributed by many lenders and collectors, the exhibit will feature pictures taken by some of the photographers who witnessed the band’s meteoric career. Check out images taken by Nat Finkelstein, Donald Greenhaus, Lisa Law, Fred W. McDarrah, Steve Schapiro, Stephen Shore, and more.
